Healthy Eating Habits will help you to lose weight quickly

osing belly fat is pretty easy if you follow some basic healthy eating habits. I frequently get asked how to lose weight quickly and of course my reply is: “All you need is proper diet and exercise.” It really is that simple, but some people don’t understand exactly what is a proper diet so I have constructed this list of healthy eating habits to get you started.
Healthy Eating Habits when it comes to carbs
- Watch your carb intake – People generally eat way too many carbs. This is why Akins and low-carb went main stream. Your carbohydrates should be coming mostly from green vegetables so cut back on the bread, muffins, cereal, snack foods, etc…
- Eat more protein – This goes with cutting back your carbs. You have to eat more protein and less carbs. A good beginner nutrition breakdown is 40% Protein, 40% Carbs, and 20% Healthy Fats. Protein is essential for building and maintaining muscle and the more muscle you have the more calories you burn
- Taper your carbs through the day – Carbohydrates are used by the body as a quick source of energy. As the day goes on you need less energy so eat more protein and exercise proper portion control on the carbs.
Healthy Eating Habits General eating guidelines
- Drink a gallon of water a day – I know it seems like a lot of water and weight loss are really related and your body is mostly water and the more you drink the better it functions. You’ll be in the bathroom a lot but you will feel much better and be healthier and really should be the number 1 on the healthy eating habits list.
- Eat a big breakfast – Breakfast really is the most important meal of the day. You have been without food for 8 hours (if you are getting enough rest, which you should be) and your body needs food. The calories you consume at breakfast (break-fast) are going to power you throughout most of you day so make it count.
- Keep track of what you consume – Don’t think you can wing it. Keeping track of what you eat is essential to weight loss success. Unless you have a clear picture of what you are taking in including calories, protein, carbs, and fat you will have no way of adjusting for better results.
- Avoid trans fat – Don’t know that I really need to explain this one. This stuff should be avoided like the plaque. Increase your Omega 3 levels. These good fats are healthy eating habits that can actually help in weight loss.
- Make simple substations – If you are using sugar, switch to Splenda. If you eat beef, eat lean beef. If you eat potato chips, eat baked or low fat. You get the point. When you are trying to lose weight it is about calories in and calories out, every little bit helps.
- Plan you meals in advance – You should do this at least a day in advance but if you can plan the whole week. This makes it easier on you to maintain healthy eating habits, avoid temptation, and reinforces the fact that food is for fuel not entertainment.
- Eat frequently – Your body needs food in small does not in large sittings. You should be eating small meals every 2 ½ to 3 hours. Again this is the key to every successful program on the market today.
